The-Real-Story-Behind-the-New-2015-MacBook-as-Told-by-an-Apple-Engineer

Apple’s latest new MacBook made headlines earlier this week and, once again, the Cupertino-based company managed to confuse people with its products. The new 2015 MacBook comes with only one port, which is supposed to substitute all others that should have been added if not for the USB Type-C.

This is the same port that Google introduced in its new Chromebook Pixel and plans to add to future Android smartphones. The USB Type-C on the MacBook replaces five connectors, such as Power, USB, HDMI, VGA and Display ports. The problem is that you can’t use the port for all these five functions simultaneously, on the contrary. Read the rest of this entry »

After announcing the release of iOS 8.2 immediately after the “Spring Forward” event that took place on March 9 at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, USA, Apple has now released iOS Beta 3, build 12F5047f, which is available for anyone who wants to test the upcoming version of Apple’s mobile operating system for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch devices.

iOS 8.3 Public Beta 3 brings a wide variety of improvements in stability and performance. To test the iOS 8.3 Public Beta 3 software update on your device (see below the entire list of supported devices), which we don’t recommend because it’s an unstable operating system, you will have to sign up for the Apple Beta Software Program. After logging in, make sure to select the “Enroll your iOS device to receive beta updates” option. Read the rest of this entry »

Apple has been making a number of announcements recently, signaling their push into new markets and industries. Not only has Apple recently announced that they will be branching off into building self-driving cars, but they will also now be making luxury watches. The plan for the luxury watches is so elaborate that it will require the company to purchase 1/3rd of the world’s gold on a yearly basis.

According to calculations done by Apple blogger Josh Centers, the company will need to purchase 746 metric tons of gold each year to meet the demand for their new watches. Considering that roughly 2,500 metric tons of gold are mined per year throughout the entire planet, this would mean that Apple would be buying nearly 1/3rd of the world’s gold. If you ask many pundits when Apple will unveil its often-rumored wearable device, many of them will say October. However, we may have to revise those expectations a bit. Recode‘s sources now claim that Apple will unveil the gadget on September 9th — you know, the same day that many expect to see at least one new iPhone.

There’s little to back the claim at this point beyond the site’s reputation for accurate leaks, but the timing makes sense given that the iPhone and the mystery wristwear are expected to work virtually hand-in-hand. As for actual technical details? Besides the expected fitness and home automation support, there isn’t much more to say — most likely, you’ll have to wait a couple more weeks to get the full scoop.

Apple iPhone 6 event officially set for Sept. 9

Invites from the Cupertino, Calif., electronics giant give almost no hints, saying “wish we could say more.” But the general consensus is that Apple will unveil its next smartphone. Apple on Thursday sent out invites for a press event on Sept. 9 in its hometown of Cupertino, Calif.

The company provided few hints about what will be announced beyond saying “Wish we could say more.” That could indicate something related to Siri, Apple’s digital voice assistant. Generally, Apple is expected to introduce its newest iPhone, dubbed the iPhone 6. The company also could show off a wearable at the event. Read the rest of this entry »

Apple continues to dominate smartphone sales with their flagship iPhone 5s and mid-range iPhone 5c as the handsets took two of the top three sales slots at every major U.S. wireless carrier for the third month in a row.

The Cupertino, Calif.-based company remained America’s top smartphone vendor in November on the back of ‘strong’ iPhone 5s sales and ‘steady’ iPhone 5c sales, according to data cited by Canaccord Genuity analyst T. Michael Walkley in a Thursday note to investors. Samsung notched a second-place finish in an industry that has seen major sales consolidation throughout the fourth quarter.

Before the iPhone 5s and 5c’s release, Apple, Samsung, HTC, Nokia, Sony, and Motorola all had handsets enjoying top-three sales at at least one of America’s big four carriers. Apple’s September announcement pushed all but Samsung out of the picture and relegated the South Korean conglomerate’s Galaxy S4 to the runner-up position across the board. Pirates of Silicon Valley – RIP Steve Jobs

This is one of the best made for TV films that I have seen in a while. It is very well made and offers both humor and insight into the internet and computer revolution. It is the story of two men who changed the world. I absolutely love how it contrasts the difference between Gates and Jobs.

Jobs was a visionary who got caught up in his own philosophy. Gates, the brilliant and ruthless businessman who built an empire. Oh yeah and if you want to laugh yourself to death just watch the scene where Bill Gates (Anthony Michael Hall) tries to pick up women in the roller rink.

This was a story that needed to be told and it was told really well. I don’t know where you can find this film, but if you see it in your local video store and want to know how the computer world was set on end by a guy in his garage and a college dropout then rent this movie.

This film is the semi-humorous documentary about the men who made the world of technology what it is today, their struggles during college, the founding of their companies, and the ingenious actions they took to build up the global corporate empires of Apple Computer Corporation and Microsoft Inc.

The latest iPhone and iPod touch are nearly identical devices, ignoring the pesky reality that the latter isn’t a phone. We can fix that. Here’s how to turn your iPod touch into a viable (and cheaper) iPhone alternative out of the box.
