Motorola’s Droid Razr has proven to be a commercial success for Motorola and Verizon. One reason was because how stunningly thin the Razr is at just 7.1mm.

The Droid Razr Maxx isn’t thin. It’s the same phone, but 9mm thick. Why? That extra 1.9mm is all battery. And that makes all the difference in the world. Let’s see why. Read the rest of this entry »

Are you old enough to remember “big-butt” monitors, or CRT displays, by which they are more professional referred? I’ve spoken to some teens who don’t.

To them I say, “It sucks to be you!” For you know not, the appreciation for which we old fogies place on the simple things–things like 1080p resolutions, slim and sexy form factors, a million-to-one contrast ratios, numerous connectivity options and more. Surely these are high grade features that demand a high grade cost of entry. Ahh!

To be young and unknowing again..! To that, HP says, “Wake up, old man! These features are commonplace, even for a sub $200 monitor.” True enough! HP is peddling just such a monitor for $163. Enter the HP 2311x–a 23-inch LCD display that kicks a lot of butt for relatively little money. The HP 2311x sports all the features listed above and then some.   Read the rest of this entry »

The arrival of Samsung’s Galaxy Nexus will bring a whole new era to the Android-based smartphone market, specifically the beginning of the Android 4.0 era that’s been nicknamed Ice Cream Sandwich.

It’s been talked about for months as the replacement, or really upgrade, to the current OS system for Androids 2.3.4 Gingerbread, and the Nexus will be the first phone to done the highly anticipated operating system.

As the newest phone to come onto the scene of the already oversaturated Android smartphone market within the past three months, the Nexus is pegged to be the “iPhone Killer,” but will it really kill the iPhone 4S’ popularity?

Here’s a helpful comparison that might help you decide whether or not to ditch the Apple and head on over to the Android side or stay an everlasting Apple fan. Read the rest of this entry »

Xbox 720, Xbox Loop — whatever Microsoft ends up calling it, that hot rod of a console looks to be on deck for a late fall 2013 release. According to IGN’s sources, this successor to the Redmond gaming throne is purported to pack a GPU based on AMD’s 6000 series of chips and will boast silicon circuitry that catapults its performance past Nintendo’s upcoming Wii U by 20 percent.

If you’re looking for a more apples to green X’s comparison, this next-gen console’s graphical capabilities are also reportedly six times greater than its 360 progenitor.

While MS is likely holding back its monstrous new platform for a big E3 reveal, it appears the company’s still whittling down its spec list, with dev kits to be issued later this August. No mention was made of its rumored Kinect 2 integration, but we’re more than certain that famous hacking tech will be front and center.

It wouldn’t be a proper G-Form product release without the accompanying outlandish promotional video.

So, when the company offered up its new iPhone 4/4S case, it made its way to an empty ice skating rink, grabbed a hockey stick and went to town, showing how the thing holds up to the punishment of an 82 mph slapshot.

The case incorporates the company’s favorite shock absorbing substance, Poron XRD and comes in two styles: X Protect and Extreme Grid.

They’ll run you $40 each, when they ship at the end of the month — the video below, on the other hand, is free. Read the rest of this entry »

Speechless? We can’t blame you and, although this fashionable shooter might not be up your alley, we’re willing to bet your kids — or any other young member of the fam — would snatch her up in a heartbeat.

Dubbed Barbie Photo Fashion, she might not be too computer savvy or a filmmaker, but this stylish doll’s got traits of her own to flaunt. Photo Barbie’s carrying a 5-megapixel camera between her shoulder blades and a thumb-size LCD in her synthetic guts. She’s got 15 built-in effects to give your pics a little sweet spice too.

Speaking of, the $50 Barbie holds up to 100 shots and is powered by a rechargeable battery that should give you enough juice to get through a few sessions. When it’s time to charge up or unload your images, just jack into her tramp stamp mini USB port.

Barbie was kind enough to join our photoshoot, so hit up the gallery below to check out the rest of the shots.

Motorola Droid 4 review

Oh, how the mighty have fallen. For a phone that single-handedly resuscitated the business prospects of its parent company, gave a much-needed boost to Google’s fledgling Android and finally added a compelling product to Verizon’s lineup, the Droid can’t get no respect. Initially billed as the anti-iPhone, the OG flagship embodied an aggressively tech for tech’s sake design ethos, with its masculine, hard-edged build, geeky OS and Lucasfilm licensed moniker.

That was all once upon a time. Now, two years later and sucked of its disruptive significance, the only legacy remaining for the red-eyed Droid franchise is its brand equity and QWERTY slider appeal. Aside from BlackBerry addicts, most consumers appear none too chuffed to see those slide-out keypads become the stuff of mobile lore, and instead prefer those increasingly ubiquitous slabs (namely, of the 4.3-inch-and-up persuasion).

So, where did it all go wrong? Why is the Droid 4, now imbued with LTE, getting the B-list treatment? Does a $200 price tag and a host of minor spec bumps (a 1.2GHz dual-core CPU, 1.3 megapixel front-facer and beefier 1,785mAh battery) merit another spin around the two-year contract pole? Head on past the break to see whether this former trailblazer can still do what it’s namesake robot supposedly does. Read the rest of this entry »

Is there such a thing as revolutionary technology? Many Egyptians believe there is. A year ago, they used mobile phones, social networking and banned TV channels to spread word of the protests in Tahrir Square. Hearing the news, thousands of young people risked their lives to join in and overthrow the dictator Hosni Mubarak.

To mark the revolution’s anniversary, Engadget caught up with five Caireans of different ages and backgrounds to find out about the gadgets they use to keep in touch with their world. For the love of freedom, democracy and at least one bar of mobile reception, please read on.

Egypt is a complex country in a complicated situation. Mubarak is gone, but now the army runs the show. Traveling around Cairo, it’s clear that the revolution hasn’t yet become history. In many ways, it’s still going on. Hundreds of thousands of people returned to Tahrir Square on the anniversary of the first big protest, January 25th, but they weren’t interested in remembrance so much as pushing for faster democratic change. For iPod Noise Isolation Earbuds – Price:  $1.80

These are nice aftermarket earbuds. Build quality is A+ with okay sound quality on my iPod 5G 30GB. I can wear them 12 hours a day without a painful ears. Note that these kind of in-ear earbuds may fall off a little easier than traditional earbuds.

These are REALLY cheap but the quality is not that bad. They can easily be confused for the apple brand ones both in looks and quality. Read the rest of this entry »
