Digital Rearview Mirror for Bikes

Do you normally use the bike as a transportation method, and are afraid of the traffic (read cars)? If so, check out the upcoming high-tech digital mirror made by Cerevellum, and called Hindsight. This rearview system works in a pretty smart way, and the digital word makes all the difference. Instead of looking at a “normal” mirror like it happens on most cars, the Hindsight consists of a small head-unit display screen that measures 3.5-inches, plus a tiny camera (lenses) placed on the handle bar and faced back, which provides an excellent view of what is happening behind you. So far, the prototype model features a battery life close to 4 hours, 32MB of internal memory to store data, and in case you need more memory there are 4 USB ports.

On the other hand, it might be a bit dangerous to use the Hindsight, because you’ll be looking at the screen, in place of looking to what is on front of you – it all depends on how good of a biker you are. Anyhow, there is an expected price of $200 when it becomes available to the public, maybe in 2008 or 2009.New Gadgets

Chocolate Portable HDD — Hot or Not?

Technology’s not just about functionality anymore. Design plays an integral part in today’s tech market. After all, if manufacturers don’t put emphasis on subtle differences in aesthetics and features, how will consumers know which product to choose? This hard disk drive is a perfect example.

Christened the Chocolate portable HDD by its designer, Sang-Hoon Lee, the gadget mimics chocolate bars. The margins are made up of 12 detachable flash drives connected to a central hub. Said central hub is a touch-screen panel wherein you can view the files in your flash drives as well as organize them.

The design received mixed reviews as the viability of using it in real life is questioned. Although I find the concept attractive, I very much doubt I’d be using one of these. I’m not exactly the most organised person on earth and it’s very easy to lose one of those pieces. What do YOU think?

Life Mel honey, which is though to be the world’s most expensive at £42 per pot, is now on sale at Harrods. The rich flavorsome honey is being sold in the store’s pharmacy instead of its food hall, owing to the honey’s obvious health benefits. Harrods cites that the 120g pots of Life Mel honey are well-liked by celebrities such as Sienna Miller and Kylie Minogue. Indulge in the rich taste of this honey, made by honey bees fed on a specially created diet, which includes herbs such as Siberian ginseng and echinacea. Made without any artificial ingredients, the Life Mel honey has a rich taste similar to popular Manuka honey. Life Mel has a distinctive and pleasant aroma and flavor. The honey is made in Israel and is intended to be eaten by the teaspoonful in the morning and at night.

Here comes a new entrant to the ever-growing family of luxury speakers. The Vivid Audio’s forthcoming new flagship speaker Giya G1 inherits design cues from Laurence Dickie’s prior work with B&W’s famous Nautilus project. The G1 will be unveiled at CES 2008 with Luxman electronics and is sure to woo the audiophiles. Touting a wild make and eye-catching automotive paint finishes, the Vivid Giya G1 takes the Vivid’s patented technologies to the maximum. From the custom drivers to the supercar-derived cabinet construction, the Giya builds off designer Laurence Dickie’s work at B&W creating the famed Nautilus series of super speakers. The new speakers are aimed straightforward at serious hi-fi fans sharing a passion for sound and style. All the included speakers are made using advanced, patented cabinet construction and bass loading. The smaller speakers make use of double drivers on the front and back of the speaker in a bipole radiating fashion while the dual 12″ woofers with mechanically coupled magnets are positioned on the sides. Vivid’s K1 speaker has already impressed us with its amazing bass low 30 watts of power, so we can expect the new Giya G1, at four times the volume, to be a bass beast. Weighing 154lbs, the new Vivid Audio’s Giya G1 speakers carry a stocky price tag of US $54,000.
